Spring with the birds

This year has been a lot for us so far.

Our neighbor cut down their giant Tree of Heaven, a very invasive tree, after it began splitting and damaging fences and risking greater damage. While removing the tree was the right thing to do, it created new challenges. This tree loved water, so when it rained heavily, it soaked up the water in our run. Not anymore. We have dealt with minor flooding and water standing that required a rapid response. We are going to be planting willow trees to grow and provide shade, in addition to being thirsty trees.

We are also concerned with the temperatures being considerably higher on the hot days without the tree, and are implementing shade cloth and changing feeding stations.

We have some new additions to our flock, respecting people who have decided to exit their bird ownership eras. We've welcomed some incredibly sweet birds and have been relieved to see that our established flock is so used to birds coming and going that they barely react.

With the warm winter and early spring, we've been experiencing a glut of eggs right now, therefore we are offering our dozen duck/egg combo for $6.50. The coupon code is Eggs_for_sale and there are only 6 uses for it.

We have added a fee for delivery to reflect our growing business and the unfortunate rise in gas costs. If you are in 97206, 266, 215 we are still delivering at no cost. For locations outside of that but within a 6 mile radius, it is a $3 delivery charge.

As I write this we have an expected low of 42 tonight, so we know that spring is still spring. After a very toasty Mother's Day and the weekend prior, there are no complaints here.
